I believe cantonments should be protected areas because to the militants, attacking a family of an officer is not only a greater ego boost, but metaphorically challenges the institution itself. Civilians are equally valuable, but for the anti nationals, hurting the ones related to the army more closely is what they would like. This new order puts the security of the Indian nationals at risk.
