Protect Impeccable and exemplary Mr.Umasankar IAS

The Tamil Nadu government has suspended IAS officer C Umashankar; on 23rd Jul 2010 it claimed that it had documents to show that he had obtained a false community certificate that said he belonged to a scheduled caste. However, Mr.Umashankar maintains that the charges regarding his caste certificate were false.

TN government has been harassing him in retaliation for his action against Sumangali Cable Vision (SCV) (Belong to SUN TV Group, owned by Kalanidhi Maran brother of Union Textile Minister Dyanidhi Maran) and a State Minister, he had unearthed largescale irregularities worth several hundred crores while serving as the managing director of state-run ELCOT as well as the Arasu Cable TV Corporation Ltd. The powerful politicians have been unleashing malicious and fraudulent inquiries against him, and lately this caste certificate drama.

Throughout his career, Umashankar had been fighting for the social cause: in 1995 when as Additional Collector in Madurai he unearthed a scam related to construction of cremation sheds, highlighting the role of ruling then AIADMK government; later when he was appointed as Collector of Tiruvarur, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's home district, he made Tiruvarur the first edistrict in India, introducing most transparent and technology enabled administration for the public.

We request you to look into this matter and protect public servants like Mr.Umashankar from the wrath of corrupt politicians. Your imminent action is required to encourage other public servants to raise against corrupt politicians.
